Master's Degree Program in Semiconductor Materials and Fabrication

The semiconductor industry integrates materials science, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and information technology, making it one of the most important interdisciplinary industries in modern technology. With rapid advances in semiconductor processing, advanced packaging, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and smart manufacturing, semiconductors have become essential to global technological development and national competitiveness. Taiwan plays a key role in wafer fabrication, IC design, packaging and testing, and the global semiconductor supply chain. Therefore, technological innovation and the cultivation of highly skilled professionals are crucial to maintaining its competitive strength.

To meet the growing demand for advanced interdisciplinary talent, our university has established the Master’s Degree Program in Semiconductor Materials and Processing. The program is founded on materials science and chemical engineering and integrates semiconductor processing, equipment technology, materials characterization, process control, smart manufacturing, environmental safety, and sustainable development. Through coursework, laboratory training, research projects, and industry–academia collaboration, students develop comprehensive capabilities in material properties, process principles, equipment operation, process integration, and engineering problem-solving.

The program aims to cultivate professionals with expertise in semiconductor materials and processing, research and innovation capabilities, interdisciplinary integration, communication and teamwork skills, engineering ethics, social responsibility, and international perspectives. The curriculum covers semiconductor materials, thin-film technologies, micro- and nanofabrication, vacuum and plasma technologies, materials characterization, and processing equipment, while incorporating emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, circular economy, net-zero emissions, green processing, and sustainable manufacturing.

Emphasizing the integrated framework of “Materials–Processing–Equipment–Characterization–Sustainability,” the program combines academic research resources with industry collaboration. Through industry-led courses, hands-on equipment training, and collaborative research projects, students strengthen their practical problem-solving and technological innovation abilities. Graduates will be prepared for careers in semiconductor materials R&D, process engineering, equipment engineering, process integration, materials characterization, quality and reliability, and advanced manufacturing, contributing to the technological advancement and sustainable development of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
