Introduction
【About Bachelor Program in Semiconductor Materials and Fabrication】
MingChi University of Science and Technology is industry-academic cooperation type of research and development university. Our academic work combining theory and practice emphasizes the hard-working attitude and engineering ethics. The College of Environment and Resources affiliated with MingChi University of Science and Technology includes three departments, that is the Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Materials Engineering, and Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering. In 2021, the Semiconductor Materials and Fabrication (SMF) Program of Bachelor was approved to establish in the College of Environment and Resources by Ministry of Education of our country. The main goal of the SMF program is to cultivate professional middle-level or high-level engineers involving in semiconductor process, equipment, facility, quality assurance and integration.
Based on this goal, the curriculum consists of equivalent cultivation on theory and practice, i.e. the SMF program not only considers professional courses to construct students' fundamental ability, but also pays extraordinary attention to experimental courses to train students' practical ability. Therefore, a sandwich teaching is adopted by our school. A whole year of an off-campus internship in the second semester of junior year enables students to accumulate practical work experience and build up scientific and technological knowledge in various semiconductor corporations or organizations including materials manufacturing, equipment maintenance, process operation.
In order to cultivate human resources in the semiconductor industry of our country, the SMF program will gather high-school students from the groups of chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering to offer basic training such as materials engineering, chemical engineering, environmental safety and health, and semiconductor manufacturing. Our program aims to cultivate interdisciplinary, professional and practical ability that meets the requirement of the semiconductor industry. Furthermore, the program emphasizes awareness of both manufacturing and environmental protection.
The current graduate alumni of our college are outstanding in work or academic, and are highly praised by all walks of life.
